The beach here is wide, flat, and calm enough to ride a bike on — a different experience from the east-facing Atlantic surf beaches elsewhere on the island.
What sets Beachside Tennis Villas apart from other Sea Pines oceanfront rentals is the walkability. South Beach Marina Village is a three-minute walk across the street, putting the iconic Salty Dog Cafe, Jake's Pizza, ice cream shops, kayak tours, dolphin cruises, and fishing charters all within easy reach. You genuinely do not need your car once you settle in. The complex has an oceanfront pool (seasonal, April through September), community grills near the pool deck, and four elevators across the two buildings.
The honest trade-offs: Sea Pines is a gated community, and the complex sits about 4-5 miles from the gate — though the gate fee is usually included in your rental. There is no grocery store within walking distance (Piggly Wiggly is a 10-minute drive). The pool is not heated. And unit quality varies significantly, from luxury-renovated condos with designer finishes to units that have not been updated since the 1990s. A free seasonal trolley connects South Beach to Harbour Town and the Sea Pines Beach Club, and the island's leisure trail network is accessible for biking to the lighthouse in about 20 minutes.
Our take: Best walkable village vibe in Sea Pines with sunset views from every unit, but the pool is seasonal and unheated, and unit quality varies dramatically — some are luxury-renovated, others are stuck in 1995.
