Barrington Arms is a 50-unit oceanfront building at 75 Ocean Lane in Palmetto Dunes, part of a larger complex that includes neighboring Barrington Court. The two buildings share a heated oceanfront pool with hot tub, poolside restrooms and showers, sun decks, and a community grilling area — all positioned between the buildings and the beach with a boardwalk leading directly to the sand. The pool is heated in spring and fall, and the hot tub runs year-round, making this a solid choice for shoulder-season visits to Hilton Head Island.
The covered parking garage underneath the building is a genuine everyday convenience, especially when unloading in the rain or during summer heat. Luggage carts are available in the garage, and elevator access connects the garage to all residential floors. The beach here is part of Palmetto Dunes' three miles of private shoreline, which stays noticeably less crowded than the public beaches at Forest Beach. Interior-facing units look out over landscaped grounds with lagoons, meandering waterways, and a water fountain.
Palmetto Dunes is a gated resort community offering three championship golf courses, a world-class tennis and pickleball center with 47 courts and two free hours daily for rental guests, and an 11-mile lagoon system for kayaking and fishing. The free Dunes Buggy shuttle runs March through October, connecting you to Shelter Cove Marina for restaurants, shops, and live entertainment. The General Store within the resort has groceries, deli items, and what many locals consider the best fried chicken on the island. For a full grocery run, Piggly Wiggly or Publix is about a 10-minute drive.
Our take: Solid oceanfront location with great pool amenities and covered parking, but the building has been going through exterior renovation work that may affect your stay — check dates before booking.
Getting around: NOT walkable to everyday amenities. Need car or bike for groceries and most dining. Trade-off is resort-level amenities, security, and golf/tennis.
