You can genuinely park your car on arrival and walk to everything you need for your entire stay, with no gate fees eating into your vacation budget. The pool complex is a highlight: a large zero-entry saltwater pool (gentle on skin and eyes), a separate kiddie pool, a hot tub, and expansive sundeck areas with tropical palm landscaping. Five buildings are arranged around manicured grounds with a grass courtyard — one five-story oceanfront tower with elevator service, plus smaller two-story walk-up buildings. The complex has a private beachwalk to the beach, outdoor showers, poolside restrooms, community grilling areas, and 24-hour security with an electronic gated entrance. Shorewood underwent major building-level upgrades in 2024, including a new roof, new HVAC systems, and new elevators — a sign that the complex is reinvesting in itself. Individual unit quality varies dramatically, however. Some units are fully renovated with granite countertops, stainless appliances, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and smart thermostats. Others have not been updated since the 1980s. This is a building where asking for photos of your specific unit before booking is essential. The mix includes standard 2BR/2BA flats in the main building and townhouse-style 3BR/3BA units in the two-story buildings. Coligny Beach Park with its famous oceanside swings is directly across the street.
Our take: Best walkability of any building in the portfolio with a genuinely impressive pool complex (zero-entry saltwater, hot tub, kiddie pool), but unit quality varies more dramatically here than almost anywhere else — beautifully renovated units sit next to ones stuck in the 1980s. The 2024 infrastructure upgrades (roof, HVAC, elevators) show the building is investing in itself.
Getting around: Arguably the most walkable location on Hilton Head Island. No car needed for beach, dining, shopping, and basic groceries. Coligny Plaza is 1 block away.
